The Underwriting Support role is focussed on supporting portfolio health and growth by providing exceptional service, expertise and advice for Direct Packages, Commercial Motor and Strata portfolios. This role contributes to growth and underwriting of profitable risk through the provision of expertise and advice and the delivery of exceptional customer service.

Delivered in accordance with individual underwriting delegated underwriting authority, the underwriting Support team will design, develop, deliver and maintain a program of work that enhances capability in Distribution, identifies trends, risks and opportunities in Underwriting appetite, demonstrate external awareness and commercial acumen and risk appetite as applied across portfolio dynamics.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

    • Respond to call centre requests via telephone or referral as allocated and within Delegated Underwriting Authority
    • Underwriting of new, referral business and renewals in alignment with current underwriting, selection and pricing guidelines
    • Maintain a focus on retention and growth of the business portfolio whilst adhering to the policies and guidelines
    • Prepare and make recommendations for risk acceptance or declinature on business outside your agreed DUA within business appetite
    • Calculate and assess risk of acceptance while keeping our customers at the forefront of any underwriting decision
    • Understand Customers needs to negotiate the best outcome in terms and conditions for renewals and new business
    • Actively collaborate across the team and the broader business to support the achievement of strategic goals and action plans
    • Actively support in the development and Coaching of Contact Centre team members
    • Reviewing and giving feedback on the underwriting controls

Skills & Experience:

      • Minimum of 3 years within the Insurance industry
      • A background of providing strong customer service
      • Understanding of relevant Insurance products, industry, market environment, reinsurance structures and customer segment
      • Ability to implement effective negotiation and decision-making skills in line with risk appetite
      • Well-developed interpersonal skills within a team environment
      • Good communication skills both written and verbal
      • Possess strong initiative, high attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
      • Proactive stakeholder awareness and engagement, with end customer at forefront of mind
      • Strong team player
      • Focussed customer service including identifying our customers needs and delivery on promise
