Join our dynamic Finance & Advice team as an Assistant Financial Control Accountant, based in Sydney or Brisbane.
This role plays a key part in supporting the Financial Control team to ensure strong financial processes and controls, including month-end close procedures, balance sheet reconciliation, and reporting.
What You’ll Do:
- Oversee the month-end close process, including journal preparation and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Ensure financial controls are maintained, safeguarding the integrity of accounting processes and the general ledger.
- Contribute to continuous improvements and participate in key strategic projects.
- Prepare monthly journals and identify areas for process standardisation and improvement.
- Promptly escalate high-risk issues to senior team members.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of reconciliations and journals according to guidelines and deadlines.
- Contribute to statutory, regulatory, and management reporting.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet all month-end deliverables.
- Review Reconciliation Control reports and work with stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Drive innovation, process simplification, and automation initiatives.
What You’ll Bring:
- A degree in accounting would be desirable
- Chartered Accounting (CA) or CPA Professional Accreditation (or working towards) desired
- 2+ years’ experience in accounting, particularly with General Ledger, regulatory, and financial reporting, is highly regarded.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to process and interpret large data sets.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis) and Word.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment, with a strong focus on confidentiality and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Oracle or similar general ledger systems is preferred.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to challenge the status quo in a collaborative and positive manner.
- A keen interest in learning and sharing knowledge with others.
