About the role:
The Web App Lead is responsible for overseeing the technical delivery, quality assurance, and performance of Disaster Management Web Application.
This role ensures the platform remains scalable, secure, and aligned with Suncorp Technology & Operations (T&O).
The Web App Lead manages US-based contractors in a day-to-day operational delivery capacity and ensures alignment with T&O. The role also leads the operation of a parallel IT solution and is accountable for the successful transition of platform management to T&O teams. This position reports to the Suncorp Control Centre Manager.
More specifically, you will:
- Support manage US-based contractors, ensuring timely and high-quality feature releases, system stability, and compliance with Suncorp IT policies.
- Oversee quality assurance (QA) processes, ensuring that Web App meets performance benchmarks and reliability standards.
- Liaise with Insurance Technology teams to align Web App strategy with enterprise-wide technology objectives.
- Lead the operation of a parallel IT solution, ensuring efficiency and agility in Web App delivery.
- Implement software engineering best practices, ensuring high-quality coding, testing, and deployment processes.
- Ensure adherence to Suncorp’s IT governance, security, and risk frameworks.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer and integration of Web App management to Suncorp Technology & Operations teams through structured documentation and training programs.
- Align SCC development efforts with Suncorp’s technology strategy and operational objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and optimise system architecture for long-term sustainability.
- Lead the development, enhancement, and maintenance of the Web App, ensuring robust, scalable, and high-performing solutions.
About You:
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline (desired).
- Project Management or Business Analysis Certification/qualification (desired).
- Experience in software engineering, cloud platforms, and web application development (desired).
- Project management, including coordination of cross-functional teams and strategic planning initiatives.
- Experience working with contractors or third-party vendors, particularly in a remote setting.
- Strong technical leadership experience, with a focus on web application development and quality assurance.
- Experience in agile software development methodologies, including sprint planning and backlog prioritisation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Analytical problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to drive collaboration across diverse teams.
Key Capabilities:
- Experience in software engineering principles, including cloud computing, APIs, and system architecture.
- Strong understanding of web application performance optimisation and quality assurance methodologies.
- Ability to manage agile software development, including sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and iterative delivery.
- Experience in implementing DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.
- Familiarity with enterprise IT governance, risk, and security frameworks.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions, ensuring alignment with operational priorities.
