Are you ready to make an impact at Suncorp Insurance and Group? We’re looking for a Financial Reporting Accountant to drive the delivery of accurate, timely financial statements and regulatory reports for our dynamic group. You’ll work closely with teams across Finance Services, providing expert advice to strengthen financial controls and safeguard the integrity of our reporting. What you’ll do
- Support financial and regulatory reporting, ensuring best practices in delivery.
- Own statutory, regulatory, and internal reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Provide clear, insightful reporting to the Board and executive stakeholders for informed decision-making.
- Manage the APRA returns process, coordinating inputs and supporting governance.
- Foster technical curiosity within the team, enhancing issue identification and communication.
- Collaborate with Finance Advisory to stay informed on financial and regulatory changes.
- Support engagement with external advisors and auditors, ensuring compliance within budget.
- Escalate high-risk issues to the appropriate FRD manager.
- Maintain and ensure up-to-date documentation of guidelines, work instructions, and timetables.
- Work with internal stakeholders to meet team deliverables and project goals.
- Drive continuous improvement by promoting automation, simplification, and risk reduction.
- Foster knowledge sharing and skills development within the team.
- Maintain high customer satisfaction and strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure timely resolution of audit action items in collaboration with auditors.
- Comply with Suncorp’s accounting policies and promote a safe, well-being-focused work environment.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting (mandatory)
- CPA or CA qualification or working towards highly desired
- At least 3 years’ accounting experience with an emphasis on General Ledger accounting, regulatory and financial reporting where large computerised systems are utilised.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills required, both written and verbal.
- Strong computer literacy (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Word, Power BI, Data Analytics).
- Effective problem solving, time management and analytical skills.
