About the role:
This is a great 12-month fixed term contract opportunity for a procurement or commercial professional to work with the HCC and Commercial Property business. You will be involved in sourcing, negotiating, contracting and category management activity to ensure that they have relevant suppliers to help the business achieve its strategy of delivering best in class claims outcomes to customers and to be the leading trans-Tasman insurer.

You will need resilience and strong communication skills with the ability to hold tough conversations, as well as data analysis skills, in return you will work within a great team environment providing you with the support you need for this challenging role.
What you’ll do:
Collaboration with the business and team to manage Categories, source Suppliers and manage Contracts.
The role is responsible for using, and making improvements to, systems that:
- Develop category management strategies for the relevant categories within Suncorp Claims
- Conduct analysis (e.g. spend, claims volume, market intelligence etc.) to determine trends, insights and opportunities to better achieve the business objectives
- Manage contract terms and tenure
- Manage risk across the supplier base (contractual, expiries, renewals, escalations etc.)
- Contribute and collaborate effectively to achieve Claims Category benefits save targets
- Manage supplier performance and disputes including SLA’s, governance and other contract deliverables
- Execute extensions, variations and terminations of legal instruments that meet stakeholders’ business needs
- Encourage, identify and deliver innovation and continuous improvement in the way we work, the categories we manage and to support the business objectives
New Work
The role is responsible for using, and making improvements to, systems that:
- Gather appropriate market and industry intelligence about relevant spend categories across Claims
- Assess available intelligence, identify and propose new supplier/category management and/or sourcing opportunities for the most important categories including Property Claims (predominantly relating to Home Claims, Commercial Property & Specialty, Contents).
- Develop and propose procurement solutions (e.g., alternative commercial models) for the resolution of business needs including reduction in Average Claims Cost (ACS)
About you:
- Experienced procurement professional with 5 + years’ experience in procurement. Mandatory
- Experience in Claims Procurement 2+ years would be beneficial but is not essential
- Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal), negotiation skills and resilience
- Experience in a centralised procurement/commercial environment providing services to a broad customer base. Mandatory
- Experienced in achieving and being accountable for tangible commercial results. Mandatory
- Experience in delivering quality outputs within tight timeframes within a standardised project management framework. Mandatory
- Analytical business skills, with an ability to produce coherent recommendations supported by the analysis
- Experience in working with others in a (preferably commercial) strategy setting role. Mandatory
