Suncorp Graduate Program 2026 – Risk Engineer  

At Suncorp, our Risk Engineers are out in the field, helping businesses understand their risks and build safer, stronger operations. As part of our two-year Graduate Program, you’ll gain deep technical foundations, hands-on consulting experience, and personalised mentoring to launch your career as a trusted risk professional.

  • Employment Type: Permanent full-time 
  • Minimum Starting Salary: $85,500 including super 
  • Location: Melbourne 

About the Program 

From day one, you’ll make an impact by: 

  • Visiting diverse client sites – from small businesses to large-scale industrial facilities – assessing property, liability, and equipment risks 
  • Using your technical skills to evaluate our customer’s operations against national and international standards, codes of practice and technical guidelines 
  • Building trusted relationships with customers, providing tailored recommendations that improve safety and reduce claims 
  • Partnering with underwriters to translate your findings into better business decisions 
  • Rotating across risk control, fee-based risk engineering, and underwriting teams for a complete view of risk management 
  • Developing your technical and consulting expertise through a bespoke training program and guidance from experienced mentors 

What we’re looking for 

We want graduates who are curious, people-focused, and ready to apply their technical knowhow to real-world challenges. 

Preferred degrees: 

  • Engineering (civil, infrastructure, mechanical, electrical, chemical or building surveying) 
  • Physical sciences 

Skills we value: 

  • A problem-solving mindset and eagerness to learn 
  • Confidence engaging with new people and environments 
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills 
  • Genuine interest in helping businesses improve their safety and resilience 
  • Are open to travel: you may be required to travel as part of the Risk Engineering role (mostly local). 

Who can apply? 

  • Full working rights in Australia 
  • Study completed at an Australian or New Zealand university  
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree within the last two years (2023, 2024 or 2025 completion), or will complete prior to program commencing  
  • Minimum ‘pass’ grade  
  • Australian driver’s licence (some local travel is part of the role).
