This role offers the successful applicant the opportunity to be part of and learn from our experienced and well-respected Customer Risk Solutions team with a wealth of knowledge gained from diverse industry and technical backgrounds.  As your work will involve visiting our customers and may include some regional travel a tool of trade vehicle would be available to you.

 

As a Risk Management Specialist, you will: -

  • Undertake commercial property, corporate and liability risk surveys
  • Interact daily with underwriters to ensure that the level of risk is correctly understood
  • Liaise with Insurance Brokers and the insured to arrange surveys and discuss risk improvements 
  • Prepare detailed and accurate reports which correctly communicate, document all identified risks
  • Develop common sense risk management solutions, communicate and motivate the need for these improvements
  • Develop risk surveying and risk mitigation initiatives
  • Proactively provide support and assistance to team members to ensure a smooth workflow and overall team success
  • Work with the risk survey team and others to maintain technical knowledge and standards within the business
  • Keep up to date with technical aspects affecting risks, e.g. trade processes, legislation, hazardous materials etc.
  • Effectively support our business strategy for growth, maintaining the company's professional reputation by establishing strong, trust-based relationships with all key stakeholders.
  • Meet expectations in relation to health and safety at work

 

 

To be considered for this opportunity you will:

 

  1. have an excellent track-record within your existing field
  2. possess previous risk surveying experience within the insurance industry or have a strong grounding in a related and complimentary field
  3. be a self-motivated and self-starting person who is confident, diplomatic and organised as you will be required to manage and prioritise both your time and workload to maximise productivity
  4. work well both independently with minimal supervision and as part of a geographically remote but closely-knit team 
  5. strong soft skills are essential to immediately build rapport and relate positively to a diverse range of clients
  6. be a good communicator enabling you to convey technical information in written and spoken form in a simple and understandable manner to both internal and external stakeholders
  7. have a pragmatic approach to risk management, capable of developing common sense solutions and ability to motivate the need for these to clients, brokers and underwriters
  8. be comfortable in the use of modern information communication technologies and software packages
  9. have high level health and safety awareness in a commercial/industrial context
  10. possess a valid NZ driver’s license for a light motor vehicle
