Manager, Marketing Science - Brand & Customer Experience (BCX)

About the Role

The Manager, Marketing Science is accountable for the team and program of work that connects marketing and communications activity and performance with business outcomes. Done well, this creates a culture of continuous improvement and performance edge.

This is done by creating the measurement and testing strategy and defining and developing the core team offering e.g. media mix modelling, return of marketing investment, incremental investment business cases, scenario planning and annual planning. This will guide the balance between the long and short (brand building versus performance outcomes) of marketing and deliver a competitive advantage.

Additionally, this person plays an important role evangelizing the power of marketing science practices & analytics and innovation and leadership of our marketing analytics capability. This is in service of demonstrating the contribution our investment in growth makes to the overall performance of Suncorp.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Suncorp Marketing Science team focussed on the application of scientific methods to identify drivers of successful marketing & communications strategies; for optimisation; to drive portfolio investment decisions and to support the commercial narrative for our function.
  • Introduce the frameworks that create better line of sight and demonstrate alignment of marketing activities/investment to business outcomes.
  • Develop, maintain and evolve marketing performance insights using expertise in marketing econometrics and other analysis tool.
  • Lead the team responsible for the identifying and creating models to help understand, monitor, and predict marketing outcomes.
  • Ensure that evaluation systems are in place related to set goals and objectives, and implement the required processes and systems to report performance and provide indicators against agreed marketing and business metrics.
  • Works with marketing teams and internal stakeholders to understand business objectives, define data strategy needs, develop project scope for performance marketing and analytics programs, and determine measurement strategies and reporting/communication protocols.
  • Develop and implement standard tracking and reporting tools to monitor marketing programs and tests, facilitating rapid rollout decisions and identifying new learning opportunities.
  • Support the establishment of consistent measurable performance standards for the Brand & Customer Experience team.
  • Guide the development of daily, weekly, monthly, & seasonal reporting/scorecards to monitor the health of our marketing programs and to share performance insights with marketing teams and stakeholders
  • Mentor team in performance analytics roles on tools, processes and best practices.
  • Ensure data pipelines are maintained and accuracy of underlying data is QA’ed
  • Help lead the insights and analytics community of practice.

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Statistics, Science) – mandatory.
  • 6+ years in data science/analytics, digital agency, or technology-related roles.
  • Experience working with business technology, data, finance, and analytics teams.
  • Exposure to marketing effectiveness and efficiency initiatives is advantageous.

 

Technical Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in data mining tools and relational databases.
  • Experience with dashboard development and large-scale data analysis.
  • Familiarity with tag management platforms, Excel, APIs, and media mix modelling tools.

Leadership & Personal Attributes:

  • Ability to direct team members, prioritize work, and manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Passion for data interpretation and optimization.
