We’re looking for an Event Claims Advisor to join our team and play a key role in managing disaster and event-related claims. This is an opportunity to make a real difference during challenging times by delivering fair outcomes, strong technical advice and an exceptional customer experience, while supporting our Claims Consultants and contributing to continuous improvement across the claims function.
What you’ll do
- Manage disaster and event claims end to end - ensuring timely, fair and high-quality outcomes for customers
- Deliver on the Suncorp NZ Disaster and Event Response Plan by supporting effective triage, prioritisation and resolution of claims
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, managing expectations and delivering on our service promise
- Assess, approve and manage claims within delegated authority, escalating complex or high-risk claims as required
- Identify and minimise claims leakage while maximising recovery opportunities
- Provide technical advice, guidance and coaching to Claims Consultants on escalated or complex claims
- Act as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders including brokers, suppliers, partners and advocates
- Identify opportunities to improve claims processes, systems and workflows, contributing to testing and implementation of change
- Support effective risk, compliance and governance practices - escalating issues where required
- Contribute to a positive team culture by sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues
What you’ll bring
- At least 4 years’ experience in claims management, ideally with exposure to event or disaster-related claims
- Extensive customer service experience, with a strong focus on delivering fair and empathetic outcomes
- Sound technical claims knowledge with the ability to work within approval frameworks and policies
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify practical, innovative solutions
- Proven stakeholder management skills, with confidence engaging internal teams and external partners
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail with solid systems capability
- A flexible, adaptable mindset with high learning agility and resilience in fast-paced or changing environments
- A collaborative approach, with a willingness to coach, support and share knowledge with others
