About the role

We’re seeking an experienced Insights Lead to join our Consumer Insurance business within the Consumer Performance, Risk & Executive Office. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Customer Insights & Analytics, this role is responsible for developing and delivering integrated, actionable customer insights that uncover opportunities for business growth and improved customer experience.

This role plays a critical part in helping the business understand what matters most to customers, drawing on qualitative and quantitative research, behavioural and operational data, and advanced analytics. You’ll bring together insights across customer journeys, products and channels, linking them clearly to Net Promoter Score (NPS), customer value and commercial outcomes.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role with strong exposure to senior stakeholders across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

Customer insights – develop, enhance & embed

  • Enhance connections between perceptual, behavioural and operational data to improve the actionability of customer insights.
  • Deliver deep customer and product analytics, including insights into product penetration, business growth drivers, acquisition, retention and expansion dynamics.
  • Link and interrogate disparate customer and operational data sources to build a holistic, end-to-end view of customer journeys across key touchpoints.
  • Analyse customer needs and expectations in the context of market and competitor performance, strengthening competitor analysis and models aligned to NPS and commercial outcomes.
  • Translate complex analysis into clear, actionable recommendations that directly support business priorities.
  • Develop data-driven tools and frameworks to guide decision-making and measure business outcomes.
  • Provide an informed perspective on customers through a strong understanding of market structure and customer decision-making within the insurance industry.
  • Ensure timely and regular delivery of insights to inform prioritisation, solutions, strategy development and decision-making forums.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative stakeholder relationships across the business.

Informing the data landscape

  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of data systems and support the evolution of the Customer Data Strategy, ensuring insight capability continues to meet changing business needs.

About you

  • Degree in Economics, Econometrics, Behavioural Science, Mathematics/Data Science, Business or Marketing, or equivalent experience with strong statistical analysis and insight development capability.
  • 5+ years’ experience in actionable insight development, using and triangulating data to understand customer needs, behaviours and outcomes, with the ability to turn insights into action.
  • Experience in customer analytics, marketing analytics, econometrics, data science or related fields.
  • Background in roles requiring strategic thinking, problem solving, and evaluation of business risks and opportunities.
  • Proven experience engaging stakeholders, presenting insights clearly, and working effectively across business functions.

Capabilities & technical skills

  • Curious, forward-looking mindset with strong strategic, critical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong customer focus with an “outside-in” perspective.
  • Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research techniques and their application.
  • Advanced analytical capability, including multivariate analysis and modelling, and the ability to connect multiple data sources into a compelling narrative.
  • Skilled at translating business problems into clear analytical objectives and actionable insights.
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency and commitment to delivering outcomes.
  • High attention to detail and a passion for using data to drive change.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal and relationship-building capability.

What we can offer you:

  • Discounts and offers on a range of insurance products
  • A range of flexible working and leave options, including 20 weeks paid parental leave, 4 weeks secondary carer parental leave, and unlimited paid emergency response leave.
  • Invest in your brighter future with ongoing study support and career development programs.
