About the role

As a Senior Claims Officer - Major Loss, you will manage a portfolio of large, complex commercial property and business interruption claims from lodgement to finalisation. You will contribute to strong customer outcomes, mentor claims officers, and support continuous improvement across the global and major loss claims function.

What you’ll do

• Manage complex commercial major loss claims end to end, including material damage and business interruption, ensuring timely, compliant and cost effective outcomes.
• Apply strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess coverage, liability, quantum and strategy on high risk and high value claims.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with brokers, loss adjusters, legal providers and internal stakeholders to support quality claim decisions.
• Provide mentoring and technical guidance to claims officers, supporting capability uplift across the team.
• Negotiate claim outcomes confidently and professionally, balancing commercial considerations with customer and regulatory expectations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, sharing knowledge and supporting consistent claims practices across the team.

What you’ll bring

• Extensive experience managing commercial major loss property claims, with a minimum of three years’ experience handling large, complex claim portfolios.
• Strong technical knowledge of commercial property policies, business interruption and complex claim structures.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring or supporting the development of claims officers in a technical claims environment.
• Well-developed negotiation skills, with the ability to manage complex discussions and achieve balanced outcomes.
• Proven stakeholder management capability, with clear, confident communication across internal and external partners.
• Ability to prioritise competing work demands while maintaining attention to detail and sound judgement.
