We are seeking experienced claims or legal professionals—ideally with expertise in both—across professional indemnity, financial lines, or injury insurance products. You will be able to demonstrate a successful track record in resolving large, technically complex claims both directly and through mentoring others. This will be backed by strong commercial acumen, pragmatic advice, and a customer-centric approach, all developed through diverse claims management experience. Your ability to navigate negotiations, mediations, or litigations to achieve customer and cost-effective settlements will set you apart. Your reputation will be built on the knowledge you share, rather than simply what you know.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical decision-making for specialty claims teams across portfolios.
  • Design and implement improvements to elevate technical decision-making within specialty claims teams and the broader Commercial Claims business.
  • Serve as the next-level decision-maker for complex claim referrals from senior claims officers and leaders.
  • Coach and mentor senior claims officers, technical specialists, and coaches.
  • Support the design and implementation of processes and internal controls to ensure adherence to risk frameworks and applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate with the National Manager to set benchmarks for technical performance, fostering a high-performing and engaging team environment.
  • Critically assess legal panel advice and support claims officers in implementing reserving and claims strategies, ensuring decisions are both commercially and customer-focused.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder expectations regarding likely claim outcomes and portfolio impacts.

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience managing complex claims across financial lines and/or public liability (injury) risks.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in coaching and people development.
  • Experience in a similar role is highly desirable.
  • Experience as an associate or senior associate-level lawyer in an insurance law firm is highly desirable.
