The Reinsurance Senior Accountant plays a key role within the Reinsurance Finance team, who are responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and delivery of reinsurance-related financial controls and reporting to external reinsurers, APRA, and Suncorp Insurance Entities.

What you’ll do:

• Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of reinsurance accounting and reporting for Insurance Australia, including developing and maintaining the integrity of accounting processes and financial controls.
• Following the Financial Control month end close process including preparation of journals and balance sheet reconciliations. 
• The preparation of reporting on reinsurance premium and claims to reinsurers and the payment of reinsurance premiums/fees to reinsurers to comply with the terms of reinsurance treaties.
• Delivering reinsurance accounting and reporting requirements for both statutory and regulatory reporting.
• Contributing to and involvement in strategic group projects, including implementation of the new reinsurance administration system.

What you’ll bring

• Degree in Accounting, Commerce (or similar) - Mandatory
• CA or CPA qualified – Desired
• 5+ years of reinsurance/general insurance experience.
• Technical knowledge in insurance/reinsurance accounting.
• Proven ability to utilise and translate business knowledge to develop business strategy.
• Proven ability to manage a complex and ambiguous agenda in a changing environment.
• Experience developing strong relationships based on mutual trust and respect.
• Experience in leading a team.
