The role:
Exciting opportunity for a Underwriter to join our high performing team! The Profin Affinity Senior Underwriter performs day to day underwriting functions for Professional and Financial Lines scheme business within a National Underwriting team. Core underwriting functions include negotiating of new business, referrals and midterm policy adjustments for scheme policies as well as monitoring the performance and compliance of in force schemes, in line with established Framework. This involves product knowledge of the Profin product suite including Professional Indemnity, Medical Malpractice, Management Liability, Association Liability and Directors and Officers Liability.
The Senior Underwriter, in collaboration with the Profin Affinity Manager, the Portfolio Team, State Underwriting and Distribution Colleagues will grow and develop key intermediary affinity relationships, deliver exceptional customer service and facilitate new scheme opportunities. The role collaborates across teams, removes blockages to performance, escalate issues and proactively look for ways to simplify and improve the underwriting process.
Key Accountabilities:
- Underwrite new and renewal Profin business, referred to Vero by our agents and within the scope of individual Delegated Underwriting Authority to achieve the strategic and financial goals of the Commercial Portfolio strategy.
- Conduct scheme renewal reviews, engaging with Portfolio to ensure alignment with current underwriting, selection and pricing guidelines and implement corrective or remedial actions when appropriate.
- Monitor ongoing policy performance of individual schemes to identify opportunities for remedial or
- Engage with Technical Specialists, Underwriting Managers, Portfolio Specialists and Practice Leaders for complex decision making, advice and feedback.
- Collaborate and facilitate the growth of multiline opportunities.
- Contribute and perform any additional tasks as required to contribute to the delivery of the Commercial Portfolio strategy or State business priorities.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of Professional and Financial Lines underwriting experience
- Demonstrated ability to influence in the commercial Broker and Adviser insurance market to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
- Active member and involvement in appropriate industry groups
- Understanding of relevant Insurance products, industry, market environment, reinsurance structures and customer segments
- Underwrites at an advanced level in accordance with Risk Appetite, Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA), Underwriting Guidelines and Business Licence
- Use technical product knowledge to set terms and conditions and determines their acceptability in comparison to risk appetite for each customer
- Adheres to DUA and escalates with recommendations to higher DUA holder when appropriate
- Advanced understanding and utilisation of underwriting tools, resources, processes and guidelines
- Advanced ability in the articulation of Risk Appetite and provide guidance to less experienced underwriters on appetite and coverage questions.
