As the Senior Accountant you will be responsible for co-ordinating and preparing the financial & regulatory reports of the Suncorp Group and its subsidiaries to ensure compliance to all reporting requirements.
What you’ll do
- Support the Financial Reporting & Delivery team in statutory and regulatory reporting requirements of the Group and its subsidiaries, and champion best practices
- Deliver excellence in reporting to executive managers/stakeholders, and ensure that communications enable informed decisions at first instance
- Own reporting of financial statements including movement commentary, liaising with business segments and collaborate with the Finance Advisory team to report on significant accounting matters
- Drive technical curiosity within the team and develop the teams issue identification capability and proactive communication of issues
- Support engagement of external advisors in relation to financial and regulatory reporting advice within agreed budget guidelines
- Support relationship with external auditor and lead engagement and the provision of information to auditors
What you’ll bring
- Degree in Accounting, Commerce (or similar) (mandatory)
- CA or CPA qualified - Mandatory
- 5 years of financial reporting experience in a medium to large financial services institution or Big4 experience in audit & assurance services
- Knowledge and practical experience of IFRS accounting standards and financial statement disclosures, demonstrated either in a commercial environment or in a professional services firm
- Knowledge and awareness of ASIC regulatory guidance, class orders / legislative instruments and requirements affecting financial reporting
- Experience in establishing and managing executive-manager level relationships
- Working knowledge of financial systems (e.g., General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Treasury, and Asset Management)
- Preferable understanding of the broader financial services market, trends, external markets, and competitive landscapes
- Preferable regulatory reporting experience in relation to APRA prudential standards and prudential practice guides
