Common Law Technical Advisor

The NSW CTP Claims team currently have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Technical Advisor in the Common Law Team. This role will be pivotal in driving performance to deliver on our financial and customer objectives. We are looking for an individual with strong technical knowledge and expertise to maximise the performance of our common law portfolio and uplift the capability of our staff.

This role will commence from 1 July 2025.
What you’ll do:
This role will provide a high level of technical expertise and strategic insight to assist in the development of appropriate strategies to enable a high performing team environment seeking to exceed financial and customer performance targets. As part of this team you will collaborate closely with the Common Law Team Leader and Common Law Technical Specialist to develop and uplift capability, drive proactive claim management strategies, promote a compliance focused culture to achieve regulatory compliance obligations and be performance focused to outperform internal targets and industry benchmarks.
What you’ll bring:
- Technical Expertise – strong knowledge of the NSW CTP scheme
- Analytical skills – ability to develop solutions and courses of action by using an information base to identify key issues, compare with other data and determine cause-effect relationships
- Attention to detail – accurately checking and processing tasks and showing concern for all aspects of the role
- Decision Making – ability to make commercial decisions in line with delegated authority and in a timely manner
- Development - ability to identify developmental needs of team members and recommend training activities to achieve positive outcomes
- Financial knowledge sufficient to interpret and analyse reports relevant to area of responsibility
- Change Management - ability to recognise, understand and support need for change and anticipated impact on both the team and self
- Communication Skills - ability to convey and explain information, coherently and confidently both oral and written
- Strong negotiation skills – exploring opportunities with a view to mutual benefit and acceptance
- Time management skills – prioritisation of work without supervision
- Adaptable and responsive to a continuously changing environment
- Coaching & Mentoring – strong ability to coach and mentor others to build technical knowledge and expertise
- Planning and organisational skills – establish a process to complete goals (either personal or for others) and allocate appropriate resources to achieve such goals
- Rapport building – use interpersonal style to establish and develop relationships
- Self-development – actively seek feedback on own performance and take responsibility for own development
Qualifications:
- Degree in Business, Legal or Insurance – Desired, or
- Diploma or equivalent qualification in Personal Injury Management – Desired; and
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a senior role dealing with complex claims in the relevant scheme, where a high degree of technical knowledge of personal injury claims, including all relevant legislation was required
