As an Internal Fraud Investigator in our Group Financial Crime Risk Department, you’ll make an impact by:
- Identifying, assessing, and investigating potential internal fraud, misconduct, and breaches of company policy within the organisation.
- Conducting in-depth investigations into suspected fraudulent activities, policy violations, or unethical behaviour by employees, ensuring compliance with internal governance frameworks, regulatory obligations, and industry best practices.
- Analysing financial transactions, communications, and behavioural patterns to identify potential risks, leveraging data analytics and forensic methodologies to build comprehensive cases.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate actions are taken following investigative findings.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of internal controls, reporting mechanisms, and risk mitigation strategies to protect the integrity of the organisation.
This is a 12 month secondment and full-time position. All locations considered: you must have access to an airport as some interstate travel will be required (on average once a month).

What you’ll bring to the role
You may come from many varied background including financial crime investigations, fraud risk management, internal investigations, forensic accounting, or compliance experience within a corporate, financial services, or regulatory environment.
To succeed in this role, you could bring:
- Experience conducting data-driven investigations, forensic analysis, and/or case management
- Strong analytical and outcome-oriented problem-solving skills
- This role demands strong stakeholder engagement skills, discretion, and the ability to navigate complex and sensitive investigations while maintaining professional integrity and fostering a culture of compliance and risk awareness.
- Demonstrated experience in dealing with a diverse spectrum of people in a range of environments
- An understanding of Industrial Relations Law and procedures and/or the criminal and civil law as it applies in various states and/or an understanding of financial crime risk
- High level of discretion, ethical standards, and ability to handle sensitive information Resilience and professionalism
While not essential, it would be great if you had:
- Tertiary qualification in law, criminology, cyber security or a related discipline would be desirable
- Working knowledge of processes and procedures in financial institutions encompassing banking, managed funds, insurance etc.
