The Team:

Business Managers at the Department of Health Tasmania play a pivotal role in supporting executive leadership by providing strategic business advice and operational oversight. They are embedded within various divisions such as Hospitals and Primary Care, Community and Mental Health, and Infrastructure, depending on the portfolio.

The Team Culture:

  • They work closely with People and Culture, particularly in areas like Culture, Talent, and Wellbeing, to support workforce development and organisational change.
  • The team is focused on building relationships, influencing outcomes, and contributing to a positive workplace culture that ultimately enhances patient care.

The Role:

  • Deliver strategic business expertise to senior executives, including Chief Executives and Clinical Directors.
  • Oversee financial and operational performance, ensuring alignment with departmental goals.
  • Support planning, budgeting, and resource allocation to enhance service delivery.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to drive continuous improvement and ensure efficient service provision.
  • Act as a liaison between executive leadership and operational teams, ensuring clear communication and implementation of strategic initiatives.

You will need:

  • Strong background in stakeholder engagement, change management, and strategic planning.
  • Skilled in data analysis and using insights to inform decisions.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • A proactive, people-focused mindset with a commitment to public health outcomes.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of 12 months

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $128,102 to $134,832 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
