Defendant Health Liaison Officer – We are seeking an Allied Health Professional to join our team to support individuals involved in the Safe at Home initiative – Tasmania’s whole-of-government response to family violence – by ensuring quality care and addressing complex health needs including mental health, drug and alcohol issues, and disability.

The Role:

  • Provide comprehensive assessment, intervention, and referral services for individuals charged under the Family Violence Bill 2005, who present with single, dual, or multiple needs related to alcohol and other drugs, mental health, and/or disability.
  • Liaise with courts, police, legal professionals, and other justice and community services to offer specialist consultation and guidance on complex health presentations.
  • Help offenders understand their legal obligations under Family Violence Orders and Police Family Violence Orders and navigate the court process.
  • Promote community awareness of the intersection between family violence and mental health, disability, and substance use.
  • Provide assessment and support to individuals mandated under the Family Violence Reforms Act 2022 to complete Mandated Behaviour Change Programs.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible until 17 October 2025.

Classification: 

Salary $110,425 to $121,907 per annum (pro rata) + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Union Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Allowances: 

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • Satisfactory completion of an approved allied health professional tertiary qualification/program of study and registered with the relevant National Board or, in the case of self-regulated allied health professions, full membership/eligible for membership with the relevant professional association

    *Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
