The Role
The Clinical Nurse Consultant - Occupational Health leads the delivery of occupational health nursing services to a broad range of employees across the North West and functions as an advanced clinical practitioner.
The occupant provides expertise and guidance to health care providers in the development of systems, policies, procedures and clinical practice protocols. with particular focus on immunisation programs and occupational health and safety.
As a dedicated resource for occupational health matters, the Clinical Nurse Consultant is responsible for:
- Coordinating independent immuniser workforce authorisation, vaccination program approval and system review.
- Providing direct occupational health and safety health services in the area of communicable disease control, including disease surveillance, contact tracing and case management of affected individuals, and management of disease outbreaks and immunisation.
- Initiating the review, development and implementation of clinical policy, guidelines and procedures for the practice of occupational health nursing, with particular regard to regulatory and technological developments. This work will encompass professional principles, systems and processes that may be shared with other specialist professions and executive management
- Aligning and integrating occupational health nursing activities and addressing emerging trends to improve program functions, organisational efficiency and performance. Established professional precedents and organisational policies may require interpretation for operational effectiveness
- Leading the development, implementation and evaluation of a range of risk management activities and processes, including employee health assessments; occupational exposure program coordination; and vaccination and wellbeing activities
- Collaborating with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Advisor, Infection Prevention and Control and other staff within the service to plan, develop and implement policies and procedures to support the effective delivery and development of workplace health, safety and wellbeing services.

Details of Appointment
Fixed term part time, day worker position, working 38 hours per fortnight, commencing from 13 October 2025 until 12 April 2026.

Classification:
Salary $114,851 - $121,886 per annum (pro rata) + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

Eligibility
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Current Driver’s Licence
- A postgraduate qualification in Workplace Health and Safety
- Certification as an Approved Health Care Worker in Tasmania or equivalent
- Certification as a Nurse Immuniser registered with Public Health within Tasmania or eligible to be registered
Under particular circumstances employees may be required to undertake a new conviction check.
