The Bluegum Health Transformation (Bluegum) will shape the future of Tasmanian healthcare by delivering statewide change supported by key digital solutions.  It will create a more connected, person-centred, sustainable and efficient health system that can meet the evolving needs of all Tasmanians.  

The Role

Provide expert business, financial, and strategic analysis in a fast‑paced, specialised environment, through researching, evaluating, and integrating complex business issues to inform executive decision‑making. 

  • Quantify the impact of business and financial risks and provide innovative solutions that optimise the impact of the substantial government investment.  
  • Collaborate closely with the Principal Finance Manager and the Department’s Finance team on budgets. Ensure a systematic, consistent and planned approach to the budgeting cycle within business constraints, manage complex financial data and work closely with senior management to develop financial models and forecasts, providing strategic insights to inform business decisions.  
  • Monitor and regularly conduct reviews of portfolio, program and project data and budgets. Identify areas for improvement, and work collaboratively to implement necessary adjustments to enhance business performance. 
  • Develop, implement and enhance robust business, financial and resource management strategies, including policies, procedures, and portfolio controls.  Collaborate with senior program and project managers to set clear financial goals that maximise business performance, and ensure compliance with Bluegum, Agency, and government timeframes, policies, regulations and methodologies.  
  • Develop and provide timely high-level reporting that builds transparency and accountability, supports fiscal discipline and strategic alignment across the portfolio. Maintain the integrity of business systems and data assets that inform business decisions.  
  • Build and sustain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and foster a culture of business and financial responsibility and accountability within the Bluegum Program.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term, full time day worker, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible for 12 months.

Please note that hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

Classification: General Stream Band 7

Salary $128,102 - $134,832 per annum + 12% superannuation

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications - Business related field

Position Features:

  • Travel between sites may be undertaken
  • Potential intrastate travel

Under particular circumstances employees may be required to undertake a new conviction check.
