About The Role

Reporting to the Manager Service Enablement Water Transfer & Drainage Station, this role will be accountable for the Maintenance Strategy and Asset Performance and Condition Monitoring Programs of critical Mechanical Assets within the Water Transfer and Drainage Portfolio. These includes Pump Stations, Mini Hydros, and Valve Complexes.

The strategic focus of the team is to better utilise our Asset Technologies through the uplift of our Asset and Maintenance Master Data. Simply put, Smarter, not Harder. With every growing portfolio as we support the population growth of Melbourne, information maturity has never been more crucial. 

Within the context of the value chain, Service Enablement plays a pivotal role in transforming the strategic service programs into tactical implementation, building and maintaining a solid working relationship with key operational and maintenance personnel is paramount.

  • Initiate and develop business cases for capital projects in line with Melbourne Water’s capital management system
  • Undertake decision-making to ensure whole of lifecycle cost of assets and services is minimized
  • Build and maintain positive customer and stakeholder relationships including providing technical advice to Service Delivery (Operations and Maintenance) in a collaborative way.
  • Provide advice and guidance to team members as required
  • Taking care of own and colleagues Health and Safety through identification and reporting of hazards and active involvement in improvement initiatives
  • Assigned tasks must be delivered within agreed / statutory timeframes

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical/Civil/Electrical/Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline general understanding of the water and sewerage system including treatment.
  • Active Engineering Registration will be required for the role, but we acknowledge that not all candidates will currently hold this registration, therefore, potential candidates must be eligible for Engineering Registration in a related discipline.
  • Experience in the lifecycle management of water industry assets or equivalent industry/infrastructure including condition monitoring of assets.
  • Ability to critically explore and analyse solution options and evaluate consequences of different risk scenarios and implement appropriate cost-effective risk management techniques.
  • Experience with IT systems (Eg: MS Office, Maximo, GIS, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal skills together with excellent verbal and written skills
  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to prioritise and perform complex professional/technical work with general supervision and exercise professional/technical judgement
