About the role

As the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of plant & equipment for this Thiess project in Mongolia.

In this role you will:

  • Manage the maintenance operations for UHG to ensure that Thiess business objectives are met in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
  • Ensure the mechanical and equipment availability targets are achieved within budgeted cost and in line with legislative requirements, Thiess policies and Mining systems & procedures

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Plant Superintendent or Maintenance Superintendent
  • Relevant Maintenance Engineering or Mechanical Engineering qualifications or equivalent experience or trade qualifications
  • Strong commitment to safety and exemplary safety record
  • Experience maintaining heavy mining equipment or other mobile fleets
  • Experience in maintenance workshop operations
  • Client and contract management experience, including suppliers and subcontractors
  • Planning and organising
  • Analytical and strategic thinking
  • Negotiation and influencing skills with managers across a mine site
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Conflict management skills
  • A high level of communication
  • Leadership skills
  • Influencing and negotiation skills

Project Specific Requirements for this role include:

  • Familiar with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (e.g. JDE)
  • Competent in preparing and managing budgets and controlling costs
  • Basic accounting
  • Adaptability to changing operational situations
