About the role
The primary purposes of the role are:
- Provision of accurate and innovative estimating and costing services for the tendering of new mining projects and similarly apply these processes to current projects in order to improve the operational and financial effectiveness of the Thiess business.
- Assistance in generation of site budgets.
- Analysis of site operations and methods to ensure cost effectiveness
- Understanding of commercial and legal contract conditions.
- Work with mine planning engineers to ensure the mine plan is optimized for the tender.
- Analyze actual direct costs and overheads to aid in developing tender costs.
- Analyze site production performance to determine parameters for use in budgets and tenders.
- Assist with developing a pricing model for each project that is optimal for both, clients, and Thiess
- Develop accurate tenders that are practically oriented with due consideration of the scope of works.
About you
Formal Education: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Mining / Civil Engineering or Surveying.
Work Experience:
- 8+ years' experience in a technical mining or operational environment.
- Previous experience working at a large-scale open cut or underground mining operation.
- Mine design, planning and scheduling experience.
- English advanced.
Technical Skills:
- Highly effective communication, both written and oral.
- Understanding of mining principles, design concepts and operations.
- Understanding of usage and limitations of relevant mine planning, design and scheduling software.
- High proficiency in application of estimating principals and systems including CATS.
- Understanding of contractual terms and conditions and applicability thereof.
- Proficient in MS Office software especially Excel.
- An ability to link the technical outcomes to financial results.
- Knowledge of mine operation regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
