The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Advisor to work collaboratively to deliver high-quality environmental solutions and results at Pembroke Resource’s new project in the Bowen Basin - the Olive Downs Complex.
Pembroke Resource’s Olive Downs Complex is a greenfield project located 40 kilometres South-east of Moranbah and is due to commence mining operations in mid-2023. Thiess has recently been awarded a five-year contract to deliver full-service mining operations, including mine planning overburden removal, drill and blast, load and haul, water management and rehabilitation as well as the construction of the mine infrastructure.
About The Role
Working a 9-day fortnight roster and reporting to the Technical Services Manager, your duties will include:
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and project approvals
- Management of top-soiling, site water, and rehabilitation works including quality assurance
- Ensuring the successful implementation of the Environmental Management System including the development and implementation of project Environmental Management Plans
- Delivering environmental training and awareness programs
- Ensuring environmental initiatives and innovations are effectively communicated and promoted to strengthen the culture within the business
- Collation of reports to meet legislative and client requirements
- Liaison with the client and regulator
- Co-ordinating environmental monitoring, inspection and auditing programs and maintaining associated documentation and records
- Providing interpretation of environmental data and regular progress reports against environmental performance targets
- Strategically influence the design, construction, and consultant teams in areas of environmental management and sustainability to deliver outstanding outcomes

- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science/Environmental Engineering or other relevant disciplines
- Proven site-based environmental experience (previous mining experience preferred)
- Demonstrated understanding of Australian environmental legislation including NPI and NGER requirements
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Competent in the use of Microsoft office suite and ArcGIS software. Experience with CAD software such as Vulcan will be highly regarded
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams as well as autonomously to deliver objectives
