Caval Ridge Mine is based 6kms south of Moranbah in the Bowen Basin, Queensland. 

Thiess are seeking multiple experienced Tyre Fitters for a permanent employment opportunity working on our Caval Ridge coal mining project.  Reporting into the Maintenance Supervisor, you will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results. In this role, you will:

  • Remove and fit rims and wheel assemblies on heavy earthmoving mining equipment as required
  • Remove, repair and refit tyres and wheel assemblies on heavy earthmoving mining equipment as required
  • Perform regular tyre inflation pressure checks, adjust and report to supervisor
  • Carry out regular haul road inspection
  • Source technical information from available reference manuals, technical bulletins, and computer-based systems
  • Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of equipment non-conformance, identify and record any equipment quality problems, initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels
  • Be able to work in accordance with the site's procedures.

About you

  • Minimum of two years’ experience working as a tyre fitter in open cut mining in the maintenance of a heavy earthmoving tyre fleet essential 
  • Hold current AUR21920 Cert II in Automotive Tyre Servicing or AURKTJ011 & AURKTJ012
  • Standard 11
  • Previous open cut mining experience in the maintenance of a heavy earthmoving tyre fleet essential 
  • Drivers Licence (HR drivers licence desirable)
