About the role

We are currently seeking a Mining Engineer to join our high-performing team at our QCoal Northern Hub; situated about 100km South-west of Bowen in the friendly lifestyle location of the beautiful Whitsunday Coast of Queensland and only a few minutes from the township of Collinsville. 

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will be required to work collaboratively in the delivery of high-quality solutions and results for our open-cut coal mine site.

Key responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Use your scheduling skills to produce Short/Medium Term schedules for the Northern Hub and produced optimised Short/Medium Term mining plans.
  • Utilise your design skills to develop rolling weekly excavator plans and schedules for the mining operation.
  • Provide and implement designs, including pit and dump design, dozer push, rehabilitation and water management designs.
  • Coordinate plans and schedules and monitoring of actual progress with benchmarks.
  • Assist in the management of the weekly dig/dump plans.
  • Implementation and compliance of the Weekly Plan and site Safety Health and Environmental standards to ensure safe and sustainable mine standards.
  • Provide information to relevant staff to assist in the End of Month reporting requirements.
  • Providing guidance and input into the drill and blast requirements
  • Assessing opportunities to maximising equipment utilisation
  • Assist with in house software and data capture software to run reports as required.
  • Utilise your skills to continually aim for innovative solutions.

About you

  • Prior experience working as a mining engineer on an operational open-cut coal mine
  • Bach of Engineering (Mining or Civil)
  • Proficient in MS Office and mine design, planning and scheduling packages including Vulcan, Deswik, Spry / XPAC / XACT highly desired
  • Experience in Spry will be advantageous
  • Planning, design and scheduling skills
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills
  • Authorisation to work within Australia
