About The Role

You will work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders, driving innovation in clinical services, medical technology, and health practices to support the health and safety of our workforce globally.

In this role, you will take ownership of health promotion, wellbeing strategies, and the management of key health services, ensuring compliance with health policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, a passion for health and safety innovation, and the ability to manage and improve health programs across multiple regions.

  • Lead and support the implementation of health strategies aligned with Thiess' commitment to safety, wellness, and risk management.
  • Develop and implement programs to improve physical, mental, and social health parameters.
  • Provide oversight for health-based legislative and company processes, ensuring accurate reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Foster relationships with health providers and service vendors to deliver efficient and quality health services.
  • Monitor and improve systems for health management, including data collection, reporting, and analysis.

About You

Candidates must hold formal qualifications in Occupational Health Management, with an allied health qualification considered highly desirable. Relevant professional certification in health management is also strongly preferred. In terms of experience, a minimum of 5 years in an occupational health role, with a specific focus on health promotion and innovation, is required. Additionally, at least 5 years of experience in medical case management is essential, with a preference for candidates who have worked within the mining or industrial sectors, ideally at both project and corporate levels. Strong technical skills are essential, including expertise in hygiene, risk management, substance monitoring, and familiarity with OHS systems such as AS/NZS 45001 and 45003. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel, is also required, alongside excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, with the ability to drive change within a complex, multi-regional organisation. A demonstrated ability to develop and implement health strategies that align with overall business goals is crucial. Experience in managing health services, vendors, and suppliers to meet organisational needs is essential. The role requires someone with the analytical capability to assess complex health data and trends, applying these insights to improve health outcomes. In addition, candidates must have a solid understanding of workplace health hazards, risk assessment, and the implementation of safety measures, particularly in mining or similar industrial environments. High-level project management and strategic planning skills are also key to success in this role.
