About The Role

The Asset Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of all project maintenance operations, aligning with Thiess' business objectives and strategic direction. Reporting directly to our Head of Assets for Australia East, this position will be based from our Mackay office. Strong leadership and technical expertise will be essential to drive performance and champion a culture of safety and excellence across our Queensland projects. 

Additionally, you will: 

  • Manage governance associated with Asset Operations, ensuring compliance with Thiess' policies and procedures. 

  • Foster strong partnerships with internal stakeholders and external partners, including Regional Mining Operations Managers, Project Staff, Corporate Staff, OEMs, subcontractors, and suppliers. 

  • Demonstrate outstanding leadership in driving a high-performing team and cultivate an inclusive, values-based, client-focused culture. 

  • Conduct monthly reviews of department performance and collaborate with Operation Managers to drive asset utilisation and performance improvement. 

  • Assist in the development of resource plans and manage resource budgets effectively. 

  • Actively contribute to financial management activities, including budget preparation, monitoring project expenditure, and ensuring compliance with Thiess' financial policies. 

  • Ensure successful mobilisation of projects and compliance with Thiess' policies and procedures. 

  • Participate in safety initiatives and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. 

  

About You 

You have management experience as well as substantial experience in a mobile plant maintenance environment. Your seamless communication, both verbal and written, adds finesse to the flow of ideas and information. You will elevate stakeholder experience through exceptional service and take the initiative to champion innovation in a collaborative, diverse team environment. You will uphold unwavering integrity and contribute to a culture of trust.  

Additionally, you have: 

  • Mechanical Trade Certificates/ Mechanical Engineering Degree 

  • Hazard Identification, risk management 

  • Supervisor (Formally QMS 1,2,3) 

  • Extensive knowledge of maintenance for CAT and Liebherr equipment 

  • Proficient in MS Office 

  • Knowledge of project management structure, plans and implications for project accountabilities 

  • General business acumen and adaptability to changing operational situations
