About the role
We are looking for a Health and Safety Advisor to join our Olive Downs Complex on an 8/6 roster.
Reporting to the Project Health & Safety Manager, you will support the maintenance and effectiveness of the site's Safety and Health Management System. This dynamic, hands-on role requires flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly for success.
Pembroke Resource’s Olive Downs Complex is a greenfield project located 40 kilometres south-east of Moranbah which commenced mining operations in mid-2023. Thiess has been awarded a five-year contract to deliver full service mining operations, including mine planning overburden removal, drill and blast, load and haul (Autonomous), water management and rehabilitation as well as construction of the mine infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with the coordination of all functional safety issues including the maintenance of relevant records and reports
- Playing a pivotal role in the implementation of the injury management process
- Driving a strong safety culture and liaise with other departments to ensure achievement of the site's safety objectives, including visual field leadership
- Championing all applicable Health and Safety and Laws, Regulations and statutory obligations at all times.
- HST Management Systems: Developing and maintaining plans, procedures, and guidelines with legislative requirements and industry best practice.
- HST Strategy & Leadership: Supporting the business in delivering legislative compliance, sustainability commitments, and industry best practices
- Risk Management & Compliance: Facilitate procedure reviews, risk assessments, incident investigations (ICAM) and contribute to regulatory compliance at site.
About you
- Experience in a site-based HST role in mining or heavy industry
- Proven 2+ years experience as an HSE Advisor
- RIIRIS402: Carry out the risk management process (G2)
- Certificate IV Occupational Health & safety, or higher qualifications
- Current Queensland driver licence: C class (minimum)
- Strong understanding of mining operations and associated hazards
- ICAM Lead Incident Investigations; the ability to facilitate ICAM Investigations
- Solid knowledge of HSE legislation, regulations, and industry best practices
- Expertise in developing and delivering effective HSE training programs
- Proficiency in incident investigation techniques, risk assessments, and emergency response planning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Strong computer skills
