Why Thiess?
Thiess is built on a proud history of delivering excellence in mining for over 90 years. With a team of 15,000+ across multiple continents, we blend world-class talent and cutting-edge technology to shape a sustainable mining future.
What you’ll do:
As a Senior Business Analyst, you’ll work at the intersection of payroll compliance, systems, and transformation. Partnering with internal teams and external providers, you’ll identify business needs, interpret complex legislation and enterprise agreements, and translate these into system requirements and process improvements. You'll be responsible for developing business specifications, testing new system features, mapping current and future-state processes, and managing a pipeline of system updates and change requests.
You’ll be a key liaison between Payroll, IR, IT, and our outsource partners – ensuring Oracle HCM and Preceda Payroll systems are aligned and configured to deliver compliant payroll outcomes. Your work will directly contribute to BAU payroll success and the delivery of major transformation projects across the business.
A bit about you:
You’ll have extensive experience working as a Payroll Business Analyst, with hands-on expertise in Oracle HCM and Preceda Payroll. You’re highly skilled in interpreting complex legislative requirements, mapping business processes, and translating them into technical specifications. You have a strong background in stakeholder engagement and can confidently facilitate workshops, manage cross-functional teams, and drive solutions through to delivery.
Your toolkit includes intermediate to advanced Excel skills, familiarity with tools like Jira, and a strong analytical mindset. You’re known for your attention to detail, time management, and ability to independently identify and implement improvements. Relevant training or qualifications in HR systems or payroll are essential.
What we offer:

- Supportive, inclusive culture that values innovation and continuous improvement
- Career development and technical training opportunities.
- Collaborative, values-led culture with a global reach.
- Access to leading-edge technology and systems.
