About the role

We are seeking a Blast Hole Dipper to join our Technical Services team at our QCoal Northern Hub Project situated in the Bowen Basin, a 5min drive from Collinsville. The location of the site is advantageous for those living in the Whitsundays, Mackay or Townsville.

As our next Blast Hole Dipper at the QCoal Northern Hub, you will play a key role in supporting the Drill & Blast team. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you’ll work collaboratively to ensure accurate dipping and recording of blast hole information, setting out future blast patterns and contributing to safe and efficient blasting outcomes.

Working a 7/7 day-shift only roster, your responsibilities will include:

  • Dipping blast holes to obtain accurate depths and conditions
  • Recording and reporting findings, ensuring data is captured correctly for drill and blast planning
  • Supporting the drillers through the mark out of drill patterns using pucks
  • Utilising survey equipment to collect blast pattern boundaries
  • Managing your time well to ensure drilling and loading activities can keep going
  • Identifying and reporting hazards promptly
  • Following all site procedures, policies, and safe work practices
  • Maintaining housekeeping standards and contributing positively to the site safety culture

About you

To be successful in this role you are required to have:

  • Drivers licence
  • Coal Mining Experience (not a pre-requisite, but advantageous)
  • Standard 11
  • Coal Board Medical
  • Effective time management skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to complete intensive manual labour outside
  • Effective communication skills
