ABOUT THE ROLE: 

Thiess are seeking an experienced Field Diesel Fitter for a permanent employment opportunity working at our Olive Downs Complex coal mining project. Reporting into the Maintenance Supervisor, you will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results.

Pembroke Resources’ Olive Downs Complex is an exciting greenfield project located 80 km south-east of Moranbah, with mining operations kicking off in mid-2023. Thiess proudly delivers full-service mining operations, including mine planning, overburden removal, drill and blast, autonomous load and haul, water management, rehabilitation, and the construction of mine infrastructure.

Camp is located at Civeo Coppabella, with bus transport provided daily from camp to site. A bus service is also available for locals, making it easy to join our team and be part of this world-class operation.

As a Field Diesel Fitter, you will be required to:

  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on excavators to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform troubleshooting, and execute necessary repairs.
  • Perform scheduled servicing and inspections according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Replace parts, components, and systems as needed to maintain equipment performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure efficient workflow and minimal equipment downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed.
  • Always adhere to safety protocols and regulations.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Mechanical/Diesel Fitting trade qualification
  • Proven experience as an Excavator Fitter or similar role in the construction or mining industry
  • Liebherr and Hitachi Excavators, experience desirable
  • Enthusiastic attitude & high performing work ethic
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and culture
  • Current Drivers Licence 
  • Current Standard 11 desirable
