About The Role

Thiess seeks a highly motivated and experienced Senior Inventory Management Specialist to join our Operational Support team based in our newly renovated office in South Bank, Brisbane.  

As Senior Inventory Management Specialist, you will ensure effective inventory management through high-level data analysis and reporting. You will be primarily responsible for ensuring MRO inventory is effectively managed within the group’s governance framework whilst meeting the operational needs of our Australian projects and facilities. 

Key responsibilities of this role include: 

  • Drive the optimisation of inventory to meet operational requirements while managing the risk of excess and non-moving inventory 
  • Provide high quality and timely inventory reporting and analysis 
  • Lead inventory management improvement projects 
  • Lead inventory planning and utilization of existing inventory through DRP 
  • Lead inventory cataloguing and maintenance of master data 
  • Maintain inventory ledger integrity and item costing 
  • Develop and review inventory management procedures and guidelines 
  • Make informed, data driven, recommendations to improve service levels and best practice inventory management

The role may require domestic travel to support inventory management and improvement projects.

Key projects:

  • New inventory item number: Implementing new inventory item numbers, including data mapping and process development.
  • MRP (Materials Resource Planning): Overseeing MRP implementation, including change management, data mapping, and process development.
  • Inventory Optimisation Analysis: Conducting analysis to optimise inventory levels and improve efficiency.
  • Master Data Management: Ensuring accurate and up-to-date master data for inventory.

About You

This role will best suit someone who has: 

  • Tertiary qualification, preferably in supply chain or warehouse operations 
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis (Experience developing PowerBI reports is highly regarded) 
  • Advanced understanding of MRO inventory and warehouse management systems and processes 
  • Proficient in inventory management software (JDE highly regarded) and optimisation software
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills to drive strategic outcomes
