What you’ll do
Reporting to the Lead, Fleet Asset Management, this role plays a key part in ensuring assets are specified, delivered and commissioned on time, meet quality and compliance standards, and deliver best‑for‑business outcomes across our operations.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Assist with the evaluation, justification and procurement of fleet assets to support mining services
- Develop and implement asset specifications, engaging closely with internal stakeholders
- Manage on-time delivery and commissioning of new assets, ensuring compliance with Thiess specifications and quality standards
- Maintain capital and disposal forecasts, providing accurate and timely reporting
- Manage the Australian light vehicle fleet, including:
- Redeployment of existing vehicles
- Delivery of additional vehicles
- Replacement of end‑of‑life vehicles
- Ongoing engagement with lease companies on forecasting, account management and reporting
- Liaise with Project, Treasury, Strategic Procurement, Legal, Finance and Maintenance teams to successfully deliver assets
- Apply and continuously improve asset management strategies aligned with business needs
- Support broader team objectives, including delivery of assets outside the light vehicle and support equipment scope
- Produce routine and ad‑hoc KPI and performance reports
- Undertake short‑term project management activities
- Provide fleet management support across all Thiess Group companies, as required
What you’ll bring
You will bring a strong foundation in asset and fleet management, with proven experience managing light vehicle and support equipment across operational environments. You combine technical expertise with commercial insight to deliver cost‑effective, compliant and timely asset outcomes. Highly organised and adaptable, you plan effectively in dynamic settings, take ownership of outcomes, and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. You are self‑motivated, accountable, and comfortable travelling as required to support business needs.
Key capabilities include:
- Sound understanding of asset management principles, including lifecycle management, maintenance practices, budgeting and cost control
- Demonstrated experience managing light vehicle and support equipment fleets
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in supplier and contract management
- Experience using JDE and asset management modules (highly regarded)
- Strong planning capability with flexibility to adapt in a changing environment
- Proactive, self‑motivated approach with a high level of ownership and accountability
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Mining or Mechanical Engineering), or a trade qualification with relevant fleet management experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Good understanding of accounting principles and asset lifecycle management
