About the role
We are seeking experienced Road Train Diesel Fitters looking for a permanent opportunity to join our dynamic maintenance team in Collinsville.
Our teams deliver mining excellence with uncompromising safety and environmental standards and we are looking forward to continuing our long-term relationships across our mine sites.
As a Road Train Diesel Fitter you will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing and repairing modern on-highway prime movers and road train trailer configurations. You will work both in workshop and field environments to ensure fleet availability and compliance with NHVR and site requirements.
As a Road Train Diesel Fitter, you will report through to the Maintenance Supervisor where your role will be:
- Advanced diagnostics and repair of modern diesel engines (Cummins, CAT, Detroit, etc.)
- Maintenance of:
- Transmissions (manual, AMT, Allison)
- Driveline and differential systems
- Air brake systems, ABS/EBS
- Inspection and repair of multi-combination trailers (A-Double, B-Double, Triple)
- Suspension systems (airbag & mechanical)
- Hydraulic tipping systems
- Electrical and CAN bus fault finding
- Conduct roadworthy and compliance inspections
- Attend breakdowns and perform safe field repairs
About the you
To be successful in this role you are required to have:
- Trade qualified Diesel Fitter / Heavy Vehicle Mechanic (Cert III)
- Minimum 5 years heavy vehicle experience
- Proven experience with road train configurations
- Strong diagnostic capability (OEM software experience desirable)
- Solid understanding of NHVR compliance and Chain of Responsibility
- Ability to work autonomously and safely
Desirable
- HR or MC licence
- Brake inspection accreditation
- Welding/fabrication capability
