We are currently seeking an experienced Field Maintenance Leading Hand to join our team on a 7/7 roster. This role will provide leadership and technical support to the field maintenance crew, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality maintenance practices across our excavator and drill fleet.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader who can work autonomously in a field environment while maintaining strong communication with supervisors, planners and operations.
- Trade qualified Heavy Diesel Fitter or equivalent
- Minimum 5+ years post-trade experience in heavy mobile equipment maintenance
- In-depth knowledge of excavator and drill maintenance practices
- Strong understanding of OEM maintenance procedures and specifications
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate field service personnel
- Ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions in a field environment
- Experience with fault finding, diagnostics and major component change-outs
- Strong commitment to safety, risk management and compliance with site procedures
- Experience coordinating breakdowns, planned maintenance and defect rectification in the field
- Ability to mentor and develop tradespeople and apprentices
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Experience with maintenance systems and work order management (JDE experience desirable)
- Current driver’s licence (HR desirable)
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and workpack completion
Key Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to the field maintenance crew

Coordinate and execute planned maintenance and breakdown repairs on excavators and drills

Ensure all work is completed in accordance with OEM procedures and site standards

Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping and risk management

Assist supervisors with work planning, labour allocation and job execution

Support troubleshooting and root cause identification of equipment failures

Ensure accurate completion of work orders, service sheets and maintenance documentation

Promote a positive team culture and strong communication between maintenance and operations
