What you’ll do

Reporting to the Manager, Data, Analytics and Decision Intelligence, the Data Scientist will:

  • Design, develop, validate and support models and analytics workflows for Thiess data and software products
  • Deliver analytics solutions that address complex operational and business challenges
  • Undertake on‑demand analysis and studies for urgent or critical business needs
  • Work closely with data engineers, cloud architects, developers and product stakeholders to ensure solutions are robust, scalable and fit‑for‑purpose
  • Contribute to MLOps processes, including monitoring model performance, retraining and validation

What you’ll bring

You’ll bring a strong technical foundation in data science, combined with hands‑on experience delivering analytics and machine learning solutions in a structured, collaborative environment. You have a solid understanding of modern data science practices, are comfortable working with cloud‑based platforms and Agile delivery models, and communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders to solve complex problems.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, with at least 2 years’ experience in data science, computer science, or operations research roles
  • Proven experience using data science languages and frameworks such as Python, pandas, and pySpark, and delivering machine learning and/or optimisation models
  • Strong understanding of model training, testing, validation, and analytics best practices, with exposure to cloud‑based analytics solutions
  • Working knowledge of Agile delivery, version control, issue tracking, and an understanding of DevOps, CI/CD and MLOps practices
  • A proactive problem‑solver with excellent communication skills, who is organised, self‑motivated, and confident working with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
