Working in a strategic Alliance with Thiess and Harmony, you will form part of a collaborative team, driven by shared objectives and values to deliver operational excellence at the Eva Copper Mine Project.

The Alliance will set new benchmarks for safe, sustainable and efficient copper development, supported by commitments to local employment and procurement, new-to-industry and Indigenous workforce development and meaningful engagement in the local community. 

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of defining, building and operating a major mining operation. 

The Eva Copper Mine Project is located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People in North West Queensland, approximately 75 km north-west of Cloncurry and about 95 km north-east of Mount Isa. 

The Project is an iron-oxide copper-gold resource featuring multiple open pits and is poised to become the largest greenfield copper mine in Queensland.

While this role forms part of the Eva Copper Alliance, employment will be ongoing with Thiess, with recruitment and employment managed by Thiess. 

The opportunity: 

Roster: 14 Days on, 7 Days off | Location: Eva Copper, Queensland | Employment Type: Max Term Contract through to October 2027

Thiess is seeking a Quality Manager to join our high-performing team at the Eva Copper Mine Project in the Cloncurry region of Queensland, Australia.

Your duties will include:    

  • Provide Quality leadership across all project delivery phases including design verification, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.
  • Develop, review, and maintain Quality Management Plans, ITP Registers, checklists, and assurance documentation.
  • Review ITPs and provide feedback to project teams
  • Ensure project teams understand and comply with ISO 9001 and Thiess Quality Management System requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on audit outcomes, NCR trends, and construction performance data.
  • Facilitate lessons learned, root cause analysis, and corrective / preventive action processes.
  • Contribute to standardisation and uplift of construction Quality practices across the program
  • Contribute to change management reporting with clear analysis and commentary
  • Work closely with finance, planning, contracts, and estimating teams to ensure alignment on cost impacts
  • Facilitate change review meetings and ensure systems are updated accordingly
  • Monitor and report cost-related risks across the project lifecycle

About you 

  • Trade or Tertiary qualification in Engineering/Construction or similar is desirable
  • Formal qualification in project management or equivalent experience is desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience within the Construction industry, Water Industry, Resources / Mining or Heavy Industry beneficial
  • Exposure and experience with project planning, execution and delivery, Continuous improvement, Driving Quality outcomes
  • Sound experience with client and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong technical, process and operations skills and knowledge.
  • Sound commercial acumen
  • Knowledge and understanding of ISO:9001 Quality Management System and relevant principles and practices
  • Strong understanding of Quality best practice
  • Competent in conflict and crisis management
  • Ability to work autonomously
