At Thiess, we harness the power of people and technology to drive sustainable change. As we support the global energy transition, we’re creating a workplace where inclusion, respect and opportunity underpin everything we do.

We are currently seeking Social Inclusion Officers across Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia. You will work closely with project and site teams to support the delivery of community, diversity and inclusion strategies. You will play a key role in strengthening workforce inclusion, engagement and cultural capability, while supporting Thiess’ commitments to Indigenous participation, RAP delivery and positive social outcomes.

This role is office-based with regular travel to site, or site-based depending on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of Indigenous employment and workforce participation programs
  • Provide culturally informed guidance and support to leaders and site teams
  • Build trusted relationships with Indigenous employees, Traditional Owners and community stakeholders
  • Support recruitment and onboarding initiatives, including assessment centres and program intakes
  • Facilitate mentoring, peer support networks and engagement activities
  • Coordinate inclusion initiatives, events and communications aligned to DEI priorities
  • Contribute to community engagement activities and site-based commitments
  • Maintain accurate engagement records and identify emerging workforce or community risks

What you'll bring

You are passionate about inclusion and community engagement, bringing strong relationship‑building skills and cultural awareness into everything you do. You thrive in site-based or project environments and enjoy translating strategy into practical, on‑the‑ground action.

You will bring:

  • Experience working with Indigenous communities, employment programs or community initiatives
  • A culturally respectful and collaborative approach
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work across multiple sites and priorities
  • A practical, delivery‑focused mindset
  • Qualifications in social sciences, Indigenous studies, community development, HR or similar (desirable)

We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and value the knowledge, perspectives and lived experience they bring to our work.

What we offer

  • Flexible, hybrid work model
  • Supportive, inclusive culture that values innovation and continuous improvement
  • Opportunity to work with an amazing team on a high impact project
  • Collaborative, values-led culture with a global reach.
  • Access to leading-edge technology and systems.
  • Competitive salary and employee benefits package

About us

The Thiess Group works with clients in Australia, Asia and the Americas in the dynamic field of open-cut and underground mining.

The pioneering spirit of our founders – the legendary Thiess brothers – is our legacy, and inspires our vision to harness the power of people and technology to drive sustainable change.

At Thiess, you will have the opportunity to play a part in the global energy transition. We are growing our commodities portfolio to include metals and minerals critical to the energy transition, and developing services to enable sustainable mining.

We’re creating a culture of curiosity, knowledge-sharing, and continuous learning – supporting our people to contribute to Thiess’ success and continued growth in sustainable mining.

We’ll support you to hone your skills and develop new ones, take on challenges and grow, through mentorship, collaboration and empowerment. We offer our people ongoing technical training and development opportunities so they can reach their full potential. We also invest in the workforce of the future, with a range of programs for people starting their careers.

We recognise the value of an inclusive and diverse workplace through our vision that we are better together. We’re focused on creating an inclusive environment to enable our people to bring their best self to work because they feel safe, included and empowered.
