About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a local project in Colorado, USA for a minimum of 12 months.
In the event that the preferred candidate is a Thiess employee in a region outside of North America, the offer will be made on a Local Plus assignment basis.
The salary will reflect the US market, and assistance will be provided in terms of immigration, relocation and establishment.
As Maintenance Technician Lead, you will spearhead the maintenance and repair operations for our state-of-the-art mining equipment. Your expertise and leadership will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our assets, contributing to our unwavering pursuit of productivity and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the activities of a Mine Maintenance crew to maintain mobile equipment in a manner that improves the safety, efficiency, and endurance of the fleet
- Review and manage the completion of work orders for preventive maintenance, planned component replacement, and unplanned repairs
- Assure all PM and backlog paperwork is complete, including detailed documentation of repairs and additional parts required
- Prepare reports on accidents/incidents that occur during the shift
- Conduct daily pre-shift meetings to ensure employees are informed of safety and production issues.
- Sign out PM and backlog parts from the warehouse
- Ensure that all mining employees are properly trained on the use of appropriate equipment
About You
To excel in this role, you must possess a strong background in the mining or heavy industrial construction sectors. We require 3-5 years of hands-on experience in repairing and maintaining heavy equipment, with a preference for candidates who have worked specifically with mining equipment. Additionally, you should have at least 2 years of proven experience leading and supervising a team, demonstrating your ability to foster teamwork, mentor others, and drive results.
Beyond your technical expertise, we are seeking candidates with exceptional communication skills and proficiency in essential software tools. Fluency in English is a must, as is the ability to effectively convey information both verbally and in writing. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is expected. Furthermore, you must be authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship from Thiess, and possess a valid driver's license that can be maintained throughout your employment.
This role demands a high level of physical fitness and the ability to work in challenging environmental conditions. You must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, walking long distances, and climbing ladders. The position requires working at high altitudes above 7,000 feet for two-week stretches and enduring extreme winter conditions with temperatures regularly below zero degrees Fahrenheit. Additionally, you must be prepared to work extended 12-hour shifts, including night shifts lasting 14 consecutive days, while effectively managing fatigue. Quick response times, arm-hand steadiness, and manual dexterity are essential. You should have no auditory or visual impairments that restrict your ability to see distances while driving or clearly discern auditory and visual alerts or alarms, excluding colour blindness.
