About The Role

Our Lake Vermont Project situated outside of Dysart, in Central Queensland is currently seeking a Training Coordinator to work within our collaborative Health, Safety and Training team working a 8/6 roster. This project is one of Thiess’ largest and longest running projects. 

As our next Training Coordinator reporting to the Health, Safety & Training Manager, you will collaborate with a high-performing team to assist with the coordination of all functional safety and training issues on site including the maintenance of relevant records and reports.

Some key responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with the management of site gate competency compliance
  • Manage course bookings, onsite training and inductions
  • Manage a team of Training Specialists and Crew Trainers across the site
  • Manage the site data to ensure compliance with the Learning Management System 
  • Create and maintain site training plans
  • Maintaining the site training needs analysis (TNA) to identify gaps between current skill, competency levels and required skill levels in consultation with key stakeholders
  • Develop, implement and maintain site training plans with a focus on proficiency-based training outcomes
  • Develop, implement and maintain site training plans with a focus on “new to the industry” engagement
  • Organise training activities while ensuring adherence to all legislative and Thiess requirements
  • Coordination of Emergency Response Team training

About You

To be successful in this role you will require the following: 

  • Experience in managing a large site, complex Training needs analysis
  • Strong administrative skills and experience using online training systems
  • Certificate IV Trainer Assessor
  • High level computer literacy
  • Ability to map training packages to recognised competencies (particularly RII packages)
  • Experience with heavy earthmoving equipment (Dump truck, Watercart, Grader, Dozer, Loader, Excavator, Rope Shovel) and/or a Mining Maintenance background will be an advantage
