Why Thiess?

Thiess is built on a proud history of delivering excellence in mining for over 90 years. With a team of 15,000+ across multiple continents, we blend world-class talent and cutting-edge technology to shape a sustainable mining future.

In this role, you’ll be joining our Transformation, People and Brand team, where technology transformation meets operational expertise. Working in close collaboration with internal teams and external vendors, you’ll ensure that our Payroll and HR systems are operating effectively and data flows seamlessly between platforms, driving accurate payroll processing and reporting across the business

What you’ll do:

  • Maintain Oracle HCM and Payroll system data to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Provide technical expertise to support HCM–Payroll integrations and system enhancements.
  • Support Payroll/HR and Business teams through quality reporting from the Payroll/HR systems
  • Support data migration efforts for new system implementations.
  • Collaborate with Finance, HR, IT, and external providers (e.g., WIPRO, KPMG/Deloitte) to identify and resolve technical or compliance issues.
  • Lead remediation of system and process issues impacting payroll outcomes.
  • Manage change requests, vendor coordination, and payroll forecasting/reporting functions.

A bit about you:

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring over five years of experience supporting Payroll and HR systems within complex organisations. You have a solid background in configuring and maintaining platforms such as Oracle HCM and Preceda Payroll (or similar), coupled with a strong grasp of system integrations and data flows. Your technical expertise extends to advanced Excel and Power Query, enabling you to analyse and report on complex data sets with ease. You’ve played a key role in system implementations and data migrations, and have a proven track record of resolving issues by coordinating effectively across Payroll, HR, Finance, and IT teams.

You’re known for your ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, using your strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills to build alignment and deliver outcomes. You hold relevant qualifications or training in HR, Payroll Systems, IT, or a related field, with a tertiary degree in a technical or analytical discipline being highly regarded. Your ability to work both independently and collaboratively, coupled with a continuous improvement mindset, makes you a valuable contributor to transformation and business-as-usual initiatives alike.

What we offer:

  • Flexible, hybrid work model
  • Supportive, inclusive culture that values innovation and continuous improvement
  • Career development and technical training opportunities.
  • Collaborative, values-led culture with a global reach.
  • Access to leading-edge technology and systems.
  • Competitive salary and employee benefits package
