What you’ll do

As part of the Health, Compliance & Compensation Team, you’ll work closely with internal stakeholders, regional projects, and external providers, managing processes such as pre-employment and periodic health assessments, data analysis, and case management. Your ability to provide specialist advice, ensure compliance, and drive health improvements will be crucial to the success of this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage return-to-work (non-work-related cases), pre-employment medical processes, and health administrative functions, including invoicing, budgeting, and recording statutory updates.
  • Coordinate health surveillance programs, periodic health assessments, and monitoring to ensure high-risk workers are managed effectively.
  • Ensure legal compliance aspects of occupational health management are met and align with the company’s procedures and standards.
  • Support the Thiess Health & Wellbeing Strategy across projects and operations.
  • Assist with governance processes, including monitoring contracts with health providers and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Analyse health data and trends to assist in prevention and health promotion initiatives, while maintaining accurate reporting processes.
  • Liaise with internal teams such as Health & Safety, HR, and recruitment teams, as well as external health providers and regulators.
  • Provide specialist advice on injury, illness, and non-work-related health management.
  • Act as a key resource supporting leadership teams on occupational health management plans, compliance reporting, and EAP referrals.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Education & Experience

  • Qualifications in occupational health management or allied health; professional certification is desirable.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in occupational health roles, medical case management, and mining, ideally across both project-level and corporate environments.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong risk management, auditing, and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficient in occupational health systems, compliance management, and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards (e.g., AS/NZS 4801) and intermediate computer skills (Word and Excel).

Your ability to proactively recommend and implement health improvements, ensure compliance, and support teams will make you stand out in this role.
