What you’ll do

As the Client Engagement Manager, you’ll work alongside our regional management team to identify new business opportunities, cement partnerships with clients, and drive the creation of regional business development strategies. This is a client-focused role designed for someone who thrives in developing long-term relationships and executing business plans to achieve growth targets.

From engaging with industry leaders to mobilising project opportunities, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Thiess’ reputation and market presence within the region.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, increasing awareness of Thiess’ capabilities and value proposition.
  • Develop and implement key Client Engagement Plans that highlight opportunities, facilitate client relationships, and drive pipeline growth.
  • Identify and convert new business leads, communicating market insights and competitor intelligence to ensure a competitive edge.
  • Represent Thiess at industry functions, networking events, and external forums to enhance market image and competitiveness.

Client Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for key clients, ensuring their requirements are met with accuracy and professionalism.
  • Engage with diverse client stakeholders, including C-suite executives, to ensure long-term, trusted relationships are developed and maintained.
  • Support project mobilisations by collaborating effectively with internal teams and external clients.

Market Intelligence & Strategic Planning

  • Gather industry insights through research, media, and client interactions, utilising market intelligence to develop strategic opportunities.
  • Use Salesforce CRM to manage client portfolios, track opportunities, and capture critical market information to shape strategic decision-making.

Regular travel to our clients and sites in the West will be a key requirement of this role.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

To excel in this role, you’ll bring a strong combination of qualifications, experience, and technical skills, backed by a passion for client engagement and business growth. We are looking for a customer-focused and commercially astute professional with the ability to build relationships, leverage industry networks, and deliver measurable outcomes. Your knowledge of mining operations, coupled with expertise in sales and client management, will be critical to your success in this role.

Key Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree or trade qualification (postgraduate studies or MBA highly regarded).
  • Proven experience in sales and client engagement within the mining or related construction industry, preferably in the region.
  • Ability to engage with C-suite executives and key stakeholders, building strong professional relationships.
  • A well-established industry network with the capability to leverage it for business success.
  • Basic knowledge of open-pit or underground mining methods, mining technology, and mineral processing.
  • Experience using CRM tools like Salesforce (preferred) to manage opportunities, track intelligence, and optimise client relationships.
