Design Manager, Merchant Services

  • Lead a team of product and service designers to solve complex problems and drive innovation by creating desirable, scalable, and modern omni-channel experiences
  • Shape key customer experiences by exploring conceptual designs, competitive landscapes, and market opportunities to achieve product market fit.
  • Work closely with product, engineering, and marketing leadership to help define future value propositions and create desirable experiences that achieve product-market fit.

In the role of Design Manager, Merchant Services you will join the Business Transaction Banking team that’s doubling down on customer obsession. 

Each day, you’ll go above and beyond to: 

  • Be part of NAB’s Business Everyday Banking, Merchant Services team leading a team of top product and service designers  

  • Lead the design across the domain for creating the best way to let users interact with products and services, in terms of both overall flow and at the level of individual design elements  

  • Ensure human-centred design (HCD) techniques are applied when creating best in class, usable and inclusive designs for products, services and features to achieve NABs strategic ambition of improving our customer and colleague experience  

  • Prioritisation, resource planning and recruitment responsibility to ensure right skills aligned to achieved business outcomes  

  • Lead, coach and mentor others to develop skills uplift capability across the chapter  

  • Design accountability across complex products and services and outcomes within their team/squad and across the domain  

  • Deliver intended design outcomes and for ensuring design quality is met  

  • Make important decisions based on research and understand how this research impacts others  

  • Partnering with senior stakeholders in the business and driving strategic design projects within the domain.   

We’re looking for the best and brightest to deliver the best for our customers.

You’ll need:  

  • Extensive experience leading teams of 5 plus product designers or UX/UI designers  

  • An expert practitioner, with extensive experience in Experience Design, Creative or CX fields  

  • Demonstrated ability to partner and successfully work with multiple disciplines and complex teams and demonstrate the value of design   

  • Excellent working knowledge of the design process, experience design methodologies and principles  

  • Demonstrated in-depth experience working in Agile, using agile tools & methods  

  • Proven experience setting and using design processes and tools to digitise experiences including the use of Figma, Usertesting.com and Adobe Creative Suite.  

  • Exceptional experience in visual and interactive design  

  • Mastery of Design Thinking and HCD methodologies, and a true passion for customer to advocate for human-centred design  

  • Experience across the design of banking or payment related products is desirable
