Senior Legal Counsel-Capital and Funding

The Capital & Funding Legal team works closely with Group Treasury, supporting the execution of NAB’s capital and funding strategies, while pro-actively managing legal risk within a changing regulatory environment.
You will be responsible for advising NAB as an issuer of a diverse range of senior and secured debt, equity and hybrid capital securities across domestic and global markets.
Each day you’ll go above and beyond to:
- Provide accurate, commercially relevant and timely legal advice; prepare, review and negotiate documentation for secured and unsecured securities offerings and domestic and global debt funding programmes.
- Provide advice in relation to various capital management activities, including share, hybrid and other regulatory capital issuances, share buybacks and neutralisations.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including NAB’s ongoing domestic and offshore market disclosures and regulatory and external reporting obligations.
- Appropriately manage risk, having regard to commercial and strategic priorities.

You are a highly motivated and experienced lawyer who thrives on legal excellence and professionalism in actively managing legal risk in line with commercial and strategic priorities. You have excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
You’ll need:
- Approximately 4-10 years PQE as a lawyer at a firm or in-house.
- A Bachelor of Laws qualification and be admitted to legal practice in Australia.
- Strong commercial acumen and legal experience in capital markets, corporate or banking law.
- Effective stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative and partnering approach.
