Senior Associate, Client Management Execution (CME) – Alternative Assets

Corporate Finance is responsible for all financing activity in Corporate & Institutional Bank (C&IB). We manage the balance sheet for C&IB, while providing financing solutions for our customers across diversified sectors. Our Client Management & Execution (CME) Team partner Client Coverage and Product Specialist teams with the aim of driving business growth and efficiently delivering an excellent experience for clients.

Alternative Assets covers the Energy/Utilities, Resources and Infrastructure sectors, Asset Finance and Leasing and Funds & Sponsors customers.  We provide solutions across the C&IB product suite including loans, derivatives (Interest Rate, FX, Commodity), capital markets, working capital and transactional products. The client set includes listed, private, multinational and special purpose project vehicles, with a focus on the Resources sector. 

This role will give you an opportunity to continue developing your credit risk and financial analysis skills, client relationship management skills, and enable you to play a key role in driving superior client outcomes and delivering world class client relationships. You will provide origination support, credit analysis, and portfolio risk management functions across the energy, resources, and/or resources infrastructure sectors.

In the role of a Senior Associate, you will join the Client Management & Execution (CME) Team in Corporate Finance that’s doubling down on keeping it simple.

Each day, you’ll go above and beyond to:

  • Assist in structuring transactions: Preparing credit submissions, employing financial modelling where required and making recommendations on transactions to senior management and Credit.
  • Manage the risk profile: Through monitoring and adhering to compliance requirements of a client portfolio, ensuring portfolio hygiene is of a high standard.
  • Oversee workflow management between key stakeholders: Client Coverage, CME, Product Specialists, Credit, Legal and client support teams, to achieve a seamless client experience.
  • Proactively support Client Coverage and Specialised Finance: By identifying new clients, generate valued client and industry insights and business opportunities.
  • Coach Associates and Analysts: Through exemplary behaviours and role modelling.
  • Contribute to the Corporate Finance 5 initiatives: Customers, Team, Shareholders, Community and Innovation, through involvement in Corporate Finance initiatives beyond the everyday role.

We’re looking for the best and brightest to deliver the best for our customers. You’ll need:

  • Undergraduate qualification in law, finance, business, accounting, or engineering.
  • Prior experience with a resources / mining / consultancy company and / or a technical background in the industry (such as engineering or geology) would be valued (but not essential).
  • Prior experience in banking, including with credit and compliance processes.
  • Proven experience writing credit submissions and annual reviews clearly and succinctly.
  • Sound numerical and financial analysis skills, with some financial modelling experience preferred.
