Senior Legal Counsel-Corporate Advisory

The Role: 

This position is with the Corporate Advisory Legal team who provides legal support and advice to the NAB Group on a diverse range of strategic matters including M&A, strategic alliances, joint ventures, equity investments and other advice relating to corporate law and governance issues. 

Each day, you’ll go above and beyond to:

  • Partner with various internal teams to enable strategies of the NAB Group in relation to M&A, strategic alliances, joint ventures and equity investments.
  • Advise the NAB Group on a range of corporate law and governance issues, such as listing rule issues, public disclosures, directors’ duties, shareholder issues and equity incentive schemes.
  • Liaise with external parties, such as lawyers, regulators and counterparties, in relation to legal aspects of these activities.
  • Appropriately manage risk, having regard to commercial and strategic priorities.

 You are a highly motivated and experienced lawyer who thrives on legal excellence and professionalism in actively managing legal risk in line with commercial and strategic priorities. You have excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills. 

You’ll need:

  • Approximately 4-10 years PQE as a lawyer at a firm or in-house.
  • A Bachelor of Laws qualification and be admitted to legal practice in Australia.
  • Experience in M&A, joint ventures, equity investments and general corporate legal advice 
  • Experience in the financial services sector would be ideal, but not a prerequisite.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative and partnering approach.
