Senior Consultant Industrial Relations

As a Senior Consultant within our Industrial Relations (IR) team, you will join a team of dedicated and passionate IR professionals, delivering on NAB’s industrial relations strategy. In this role, you will be navigating the full range of IR challenges from union management, implementation of organisational change initiatives, bargaining and compliance.  Working in a team of more than 10 IR colleagues, you will be learning from and with a diverse group who are focused on executing with excellence to achieve great outcomes for our businesses.

  • Provide strategic and tactical advice to the organisation, businesses and P&C colleagues on industrial relations risks, risk mitigation and opportunities. 
  • Make your contribution to NAB’s relationship with the Finance Sector Union (FSU) officials, employees and members.
  • Be fully involved in bargaining – planning, negotiating and implementing the next NAB Enterprise Agreement – demonstrating your strong analytical skills

In the role of Senior Consultant, you will join the Industrial Relations team that’s doubling down on winning together.

You’ll go above and beyond to:

  • Support our businesses and P&C in managing major change by identifying employment related risks, advising on compliance with consultation obligations, and managing issue escalation with the FSU.
  • Provide advice on practical implementation of a range of pay and pay related obligations arising from industrial instruments, legislation and policy.
  • Collaborate with the team to contribute to bargaining planning and negotiation through the provision of detailed analysis, including relevant data analysis and the generation of solutions.
  • Assess the impact of proposed/upcoming legislative reform, drive the establishment of appropriate change process, contribute to submissions to relevant reviews.

We’re looking for the best and brightest to deliver the best for our colleagues. You’ll need:

  • Proven track record of considerable experience in enterprise bargaining, particularly in a unionised environment and in a context of large employee cohorts required.
  • Significant experience in advising on the practical application of industrial instruments and relevant laws, including a solid understanding of pay related systems and being able to provide advice tailored to payroll and systems people and their needs.
  • Strong understanding of union priorities and practices and how to develop constructive relationships with unions.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills, relationship led to understand and manage business impacts/needs to achieve positive strategic outcomes with demonstrable experience handling senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to apply a commercial and practical lens to the development of advice.
  • Tertiary qualified with a degree in Employee/Industrial Relations/Human Resources/Law or related discipline.
  • Solid ability to manage high volume data effectively and extract and present relevant data insights. Intermediate Excel skills as a minimum.
